Shrinkfor Discord

Make any video fit Discord.

Pick a Discord size limit, trim if needed, and get back an MP4 that plays inline in chat.

Drop a video here, or browseMP4, MOV, WebM, MKV up to 2 GB

Files are deleted 30 minutes after they finish. The original is removed as soon as compression ends.

How it works

01

Drop your clip

Add an MP4, MOV, or WebM video up to 2 GB. Preview it in your browser and optionally drag handles to trim just the part you need.

02

Pick a Discord limit

Choose 10 MB for any server, 20 MB for legacy free upload, or Nitro targets. Our planner calculates the ideal resolution and bitrate budget.

03

Get an inline MP4

A 2-pass H.264 encode guarantees the final file fits under the chosen size threshold so it embeds and plays automatically in Discord chat.

Frequently asked questions

Will the compressed video play directly inside Discord?+

Yes. Every file is encoded using the standard H.264 video codec with AAC audio and optimized faststart flags. When dropped into a Discord text channel or DM, it previews and plays inline without requiring downloads.

How long are my files kept on the server?+

Your original uploaded video is permanently deleted the instant encoding finishes. The resulting compressed file is stored temporarily in memory and disk for 30 minutes so you can download it, after which it is wiped automatically.

What is the difference between the 10 MB and 20 MB limits?+

Discord previously allowed 8 MB, then increased the standard limit to 25 MB before settling on 10 MB for unboosted servers. Many boosted servers permit 20 MB or 50 MB. Shrink lets you aim at whatever threshold your specific channel allows.

How does Shrink keep the video quality high?+

Instead of simply lowering resolution blindly, Shrink runs a 2-pass bitrate allocation planner. The first pass evaluates scene complexity; the second pass allocates bits where they are needed most, stepping down resolution only when necessary.
